Form PA1P¶
[source: gov-uk/form-pa1p-2026-04-29.html]
Form PA1P is the application used by an executor to apply for a Grant of Probate in England and Wales when the deceased left a valid will. It is submitted to the Probate Registry, either online via the gov.uk probate service or on paper. [source: gov-uk/form-pa1p-2026-04-29.html]
The form captures the deceased's details, the executor's details, the names of any other executors named in the will, and a declaration of estate value. The original will (or, if the original is unavailable, an authorised copy) is sent to the registry alongside it.
The companion form for an estate without a will is Form PA1A, which produces Letters of Administration instead of a grant. Where the estate is not an excepted estate, an IHT400 return must be filed with HMRC before PA1P can complete. [source: gov-uk/form-pa1p-2026-04-29.html]
The current fee is £300 for estates over £5,000. → How to apply for probate
